Manager, Security

Job Responsibilities

The Security Manager (SM) is responsible for the protection of Guests, Associates, Assets (Tangible and intangible) and other resources by developing and maintaining an organisation that is responsive to the current, continuing and immediately foreseeable security, safety and health/hygiene requirements of the Hotel. He / She designs and implements a comprehensive security programme consistent with identified risks to ensure an orderly and uninterrupted hotel work environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prevents unauthorised, unlawful or un-welcomed access into the Hotel or within restricted areas within the Hotel.
• Continuous monitoring of hotel activity and developments, ensuring prompt responses to abnormalities; suspicious situations and disorder.
• Conducts exit bag / parcel searches of contractors; suppliers; casual associates etc.
• Develop / enforce effective policy and procedures governing key secure storage, key movements and accountabilities, lock duplication, lockset replacement and Master key allocations
• Anticipates, recognises / identifies, plans for and reduces to manageable proportions all security, safety and health risks, threats and hazards.
• Studies the security and safety situation and recommends appropriate policies and procedures as well as updating existing ones
• Continually studies and recommends upgrading of the hotel security and safety systems
• Develops and maintains Security Operations Procedures Manual
• Ensures good working relationship with contract security management and Security Officers.

• Supports the Mission, Purpose and Values of the Pan Pacific Hotels Group.
• Complies with all relevant Workplace Safety & Health practices and maintains a safe workplace for all associates.
• Adheres to grooming and hygiene standards set by the Hotel.
• Exercises responsible behaviour at all times to uphold the image and reputation of the Pan Pacific Hotels Group, Hotel and department.
• Ensures that the Hotel’s properties and facilities are protected and are kept in good working condition. Reports any loss or damage to the Hotel’s properties and facilities promptly and appropriately.
• Carries out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Minimum with 4 – 5 years in similar capacity
• Knowledge of role of security in a hospitality environment
• Proficient in Microsoft application such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel for report writing
• Technical knowledge on latest security systems and equipment
• Able to lead and supervise a team of officers
• Excellent interpersonal and human relations abilities
• Some exposure to project management
• High levels of flexibility and adaptability
