Job Summary:

Oversees all aspects of Property Management in accordance with Company mission statement, including maximization of financial performance, guest satisfaction, and staff development within established quality standards. Responsible for the hiring, training and discipline of all hotel staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Major Areas of Accountability

1. Accountable to the Director of Operations & Managing Director for the operation and daily running of the resorts within the agreed guidelines and as amended from time to time.

2. Ensures compliance with the Epikurean mission statement & Core Values.

3. Directs and maintains Sales and Marketing activities to achieve the planned performance levels by constantly creating innovative & enriching experiences in a sustainable environment.

4. Constantly promotes and develops the resorts business base.

5. Monitors actual and budgeted goals, develop and controls performance in service and product delivery, guest satisfaction and financial results.

6. Incorporates programs to promote proper host orientation and training and ensure the highest morale amongst the workforce & team.

7. Ensures that proper employer/staff relations are maintained.

8. Ensures that proper Epikurean & Owner’s relations are maintained.

Resort Operations

1. Reviews operational reports on a regular basis, as the case may be (daily, weekly and at period ends).

2. Reviews the properties operations with the individual department heads to ensure that quality and service standards are maintained throughout the resorts. Ensure Hotel IQ departmental reviews are done.

3. Reviews guest ratings and follows through with the individual department heads to correct problem areas.

4. Develops and monitors short and long term planning for the properties.

5. Keeps abreast with innovations and business orientations in the luxury hospitality industry.

6. Monitors current sector trends and concepts and makes recommendations to his/her superiors for appropriate implementation at resorts.

7. Monitors the price-to-value ratio of the resorts and introduces changes where and when necessary.

8. Monitors all guests’ correspondence and ensures that any problems/shortcomings are quickly identified, resolved and feedback given to the guest accordingly.

9. Actively and regularly interacts with guests, staff and management, individuals outside the hotels/resorts, not limited to current and potential clients, owning company representatives, suppliers, competitors and other members of the local community.

10. Coordinates functions and activities with the MD and CEO – Epikurean as appropriate.

11. Ensures that an up-to-date “Manager on Duty” manual is maintained to assist department heads with effective emergency procedures in the event of fires, injuries, death and to handle any other crisis situation that may arise at the properties.

12. Responsible to improve status of staff living conditions.

13. Focus on the development of HR amongst the team and constantly develop the local team.

Administrative Responsibilities

1. Ensures that the properties comply, at all times, with all governmental laws and requirements.

2. Reviews the staffing levels and ensures that staffs are rewarded and promoted, as appropriate.

3. Ensures that all staff training and development programs are implemented and successfully accomplished.

4. Monitors the resorts’ compensation program.

5. Reviews leaders performance at least thrice a year.

6. Ensures that all information pertaining to the operations and running of the hotels and resorts is disseminated to all departments in a timely manner.

7. With the aid of expert counsel, monitors all legal issues pertinent to the hotels and resorts.

8. Manages all community affairs.

9. Is responsible for the recruitment of all department heads and other key constituents of the properties.

10. Is responsible for labor hours and manpower levels, as dictated by business trends and local practices.

11. Is responsible to ensure peer appraisals are conducted timely, personal development plan of all HODs & key staff addressed and constantly reviewed.

Budget and Financial Responsibilities

1. Consolidates and presents the Annual Business Plan in the approved corporate format, including comparison analysis, variances and explanations.

2. Develops, presents and monitors the properties’ capital asset budgets.

3. Approves all purchases via purchase orders, check requests, direct bids, etc.

4. Approves all price increases for the hotel/resort.

5. Analyses the daily operation of the properties to determine more productive and cost-effective ways of providing services at the established quality levels.

6. Monitors the marketing and merchandising programs to achieve the desired financial goals, or to increase them.

7. Reviews account receivables on a regular basis to ensure timely collection.

8. Reviews the cash management process, including inventories and receivables.

9. Reviews the monthly financial results of the properties, prepares supporting commentary and submits reports to the MD and CEO-Epikurean.

10. Proceed interview and all necessary HR procedures.

Sales & Marketing Responsibilities

1. Directs the development of a comprehensive and competitively aggressive marketing plan in conjunction with DOSM.

2. Regularly monitors sales and marketing strategy, programs and production.

3. Actively participates in setting the sales and marketing strategy.

4. Makes a special point to participate in sales and marketing activities (i.e. trade shows, Fam trips, etc.).

5. Participates in the negotiation of trading contracts.

6. Ultimately approves all sales contracts & credit/ floor limits of business partners.

7. Is actively involved in monitoring and making suggestions for the improvement of the delivery system of the hotel/resort.

8. Oversees the preparation of regular marketing segmentation reports demonstrating actual performance against budget and plan.

Other Areas of Responsibility

1. Chairs daily morning briefings.

2. Chairs weekly leaders meetings.

3. Chairs 1/3ly departmental meetings with all Epikurean/ HOD staff.

4. Performs other assignments as defined by the specific needs of the properties or as directed by his/her superiors.

5. Chairs Eco & Social Responsibility meeting – fortnightly

6. Chairs Quality & New Ideas monthly meetings.

7. Chairs properly walkthrough / asset management / Health & Safety weekly meetings.

GENERAL

1. Instills/broadens the understanding of the Epikurean Mission Statement amongst all staff, sets the example for professional quality standards, communication, Ethics, works habits and practices and productivity.

2. Contributes to the morale and team spirit within the property by building and maintaining supportive and effective relationships with managers and staff alike, instilling confidence and demonstrating “chemistry” & team work amongst expat & locals alike.

3. Ensures total quality of guest services and hospitality within all departments.

4. Provides leadership, motivation and training for managers and staff.

5. Provides the MD and CEO – Epikurean with regular operational and financial status reporting.

6. Meets, on a regular basis, with the hotel/resort’s executive committee to thoroughly review their operations and results. Business plan reviews must be conducted on a monthly basis

7. Ensures that the properties delivers, at all time, a high price-to-value product perception to their clientele.

8. Is responsible for the successful implementation and maintenance of the key concepts established by the Group in its HR process, Staff Survey, HR Audits & Hotel IQ scores.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION CRITERIA

1. Team spirit and morale of hotel/resort staff.

2. Effective and productive utilization of all resources.

3. Quality and quantity of the feedback received from guests and patrons.

4. Quality of safety and security programs, marketing plans, sales activities, cost containment, properties maintenance.

5. Achievement, or out-performance, of the hotels/resort’s annual budgeted objectives.

6. Measurement of the hotels/resort’s overall accomplishments in the context of the Group’s mission statement, core values, virtuous circle & core purpose / core vision.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

 Previous experience managing a team of front office employees through motivation, coaching and development.

 The ability to; anticipate customer needs, change goals and direction quickly and multitask

 Working knowledge of property management and point of sale systems.

 Advanced knowledge of front office policies and procedures.

 Ability to maintain a budget

 Proven excellence in customer service.

 Capable of using solid decision-making skills

 Proven experience to interact effectively with all levels of management, guests, associates, and clientele, both inside and outside of the organization.

 Self-motivated to accomplish goals, with a strong sense of responsibility.

 Proficiency with general office PC applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, databases).

 Demonstrate sound organizational, coordinating and personal skills.

 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 Proven job reliability, diligence, dedication and attention to detail.

 Must be flexible with working nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Formal Training:

 Hospitality degree or hospitality industry accredited short course backed years of experience.

• Speaks English

Experience:

 A minimum of 4 years experience in all aspects of Rooms division in a medium to large resort is required, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
