1. Schedule a meeting with your supervisor. 2. Prepare for the meeting by making a list of all projects and tasks you were assigned, and the status of each one, such as completed, in progress or not yet started. Also, think of a few goals you would like to achieve in the next year or so, and list any projects or tasks that sound exciting or valuable for you that you would like to work on. 3. Present your progress to your supervisor, and accept any feedback she has to offer. Then, discuss your goals and future projects. Create goals and a mission statement with your supervisor. One example of a mission statement at work is, "I will increase my personal sales numbers by 20 percent by focusing more on my sales skills and finding new customers or accounts for the company." 4. Set realistic goals; do not set yourself up for failure. Challenge yourself, but keep it realistic. Ensure you and your supervisor both understand your specific goals. Also, ensure goals are measurable, have a deadline, specific to your role at work and relevant to company goals and priorities. Ask your supervisor for advice or guidance on how to achieve those goals before the meeting is over or as a follow-up. 5. Create a to-do list based on your mission statement, goals, deadlines and your task assignment priorities. Your supervisor can help you determine which tasks are higher priorities. 6. Work on the first task on your to-do list. Focus on that one task until it is finished. If you need a break from the task, focus on the second task on your to do list, but work that first task every day until you finish. Continue this pattern until all your tasks are finished. 7. Meet again with your supervisor to discuss progress and results of your work. Discuss ways to improve your work and become more efficient, then create a new set of measurable goals.
